DECATUR - Three Decatur inmates who recently escaped from the work release program have been captured and returned to jail, authorities said. Charles Young, 41, escaped Monday while waiting on treatment for an injury he suffered while on work release. Young's employer took him to Huntsville Hospital where he checked in, but escaped before receiving treatment, authorities said. Young was recaptured Wednesday around noon at a Knights Inn motel in Huntsville, said Brian Corbett, spokesman for the Alabama Department of Corrections. Two more inmates, Robert Alex Michael, 33, and Steven Donald Jones, 32, escaped overnight Wednesday, Corbett said. Authorities discovered the men were missing at a bed check shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday. Read More. |
