WOLFEBORO – A former police commissioner in this lakeside community who was arrested last year in Illinois with 900 pounds of marijuana in the back of his pickup truck has been sentenced to serve eight years in the Illinois State Prison. Jim Lowry, 54, who had pleaded guilty in July in the Henry County Court in Cambridge, Ill., to a charge of Class X manufacture/delivery of cannabis (greater than 5,000 grams), will also be under Illinois Department of Corrections supervision for three years after his release. And he is responsible for a penalty of up to $2.2 million, which represents the street value of the marijuana. Read More. |
