| Killer Could Serve 5 of 20 Year Sentence |

HART — Convicted murderer Dean Anthony Daily could be released under a state law after serving five of a minimum 20-year prison sentence — a move opposed by Oceana County Prosecutor Terry Shaw. “Basically, they are asking for a medical parole,” Shaw said. “I don’t know why they are considering him on this — if it’s a monetary thing or what. It appears to be more than a humanitarian thing.” Daily, 46, of Rothbury, pleaded guilty to second degree murder in April 2006 in connection with the Nov. 21, 2005 murder of Fred Gottshalk. Gottshalk was found dead near McKinley Road and 100th Avenue in Oceana County’s Grant Township with a single gunshot wound to the head. Daily was arrested two days later. His sentencing was delayed in 2006 due to an emergency medical condition. Read More. |
