| Accused Prison Guard is Reassigned |

A Soledad state prison guard accused of agreeing to smuggle drugs and cell phones into the facility in exchange for cash has been reassigned. Sergio Javier Noguera — an eight-year officer with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation — has been given a position outside the "secure institution" a day after his arrest Tuesday night, said Sgt. Kim Traynhan. Noguera will remain at his reassigned position at the Salinas Valley State Prison pending the results of the investigation into the allegations, he said. The Salinas man was arrested about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday after he showed up to meet with undercover detectives at Leavesley Road and Highway 101 in Gilroy, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.
