| FL Praising Police Halloween Watch On Sex Offenders |

This year, as hundreds of children all over Marion County took to the streets, going door to door in costume for candy and treats, individuals in uniform were simultaneously visiting sex offenders' homes, during the county's fifth annual "Operation Candy Sweep." Intended to keep tabs on the 550 sexual offenders and 47 designated sexual predators in the region, and make any arrests if necessary, the annual initiative was a multi-agency effort that took place during the prime trick-or-treating window of 4 to 10 p.m. "Every registered sex offender in Marion County is being checked out," said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Jenifer Lowe on Sunday, as nearly 100 officers from her agency, the Ocala Police Department and Florida Department of Corrections of Probation and Parole, among other departments, fanned out across the area in their vehicles.
