| Bond Set At Millions For Accused Child Abuser |

ST. CHARLES – The man accused of severely beating a 2-year-old girl is being held at the Kane County Jail on $3 million bond, authorities said Saturday. James C. Cooper, 27, is charged with aggravated battery to a child, a Class X Felony that, if convicted, could lead to a sentence of six to 30 years at the Illinois Department of Corrections, St. Charles police spokesperson Paul McCurtain said. Cooper is expected in court at 9 a.m. Thursday. Police said Cooper had been living at Super 8, 1520 E. Main St., with the girl and her mother since April. St. Charles fire and police personnel were dispatched to the hotel at 8:13 a.m. Wednesday to help the injured girl, who was brought outside to them. Read More. |
