| DOC Says Drunk Driving Familiar To Suspect |

DALTON TOWNSHIP — A 38-year-old Spring Lake woman who police say was the driver in a crash that killed her passenger Friday has a history of drinking and driving, authorities say. The driver, Kristine Ann Hitsman — who also goes by Kristine Ann Wahmhoff — was most recently arrested for drunk driving in Ottawa County on April 10, 2009, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office. Hitsman also was convicted in Ottawa County of operating a vehicle while intoxicated/impaired, third offense, dating back to a September 2007 incident, according to the Michigan Department of Corrections website. She also was convicted in Kalamazoo County on one count of operating/maintaining a drug lab in connection with a March 2004 incident, according to state prison records. Police say the Friday incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. when Hitsman crashed a gold 2000 Saturn she was driving on northbound U.S. 31 at the Russell Road overpass in Dalton Township. Read More. |
