Deputies captured a Utah fugitive last Tuesday evening. About 5 p.m., the Riverside County (Calif.) Sheriff's Department received a tip about Curtis Michael Allgier and arrested him at the Shell station on Seminole Drive, according to Cpl. Dennis Gutierrez. The 24-year-old was No. 1 on the Utah Department of Corrections' most-wanted parolee list, according to the Utah agency's Web site. Allgier was wanted on suspicion of escape from official custody, burglary and forgery. Allgier will be held in Riverside County until Utah collects him, Gutierrez said. Utah Department of Corrections spokesman Jack Ford said Allgier was last seen in Utah after an office parole meeting June 3. After Allgier failed to report to parole officers he was declared a fugitive June 15, and the department issued a warrant June 21, Ford said. Last Monday afternoon, a deputy spotted Allgier in front of the Casino Morongo. Deputies then chased him into a construction site on the property but did not find him after they evacuated and searched all 23 floors of the building. Waltona Manion, public affairs consultant for the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, said the construction schedule was not affected last Tuesday. |
