A Millsboro-area man who works as a Delaware prison guard was charged with shooting his stepfather Saturday after trying to stop the older man from strangling a woman the previous night, state police said. Joshua Niblett, 28, a corporal for the state Department of Correction, was charged with first-degree assault and possession of a firearm during a felony and released on $20,000 secured bail. Niblett, a six-year veteran, has been placed on administrative leave with pay from his job as a drill instructor at Sussex Correctional Institution boot camp. David Bundick, 53, was treated at Christiana Hospital for a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, and later charged with two counts of strangulation and one count each of offensive touching and menacing.
