| Budget Cuts May Lead To Higher Fees For Probation, Parole |

State prison officials want to raise probation and parole fees by $10 to soften the blow of budget cuts. State Department of Corrections Secretary Jimmy LeBlanc told lawmakers Thursday that the increase would generate $3 million the agency sorely needs. He said the fee increase, which legislators would be asked to approve, is born of necessity. “I’m not a big proponent of that,” LeBlanc admitted.
