Prime Minister John Key says there’s now more control over the country’s ‘P’ problem, one year after he declared war on the dangerous drug. The Government announced results today, indicating the drug has become slightly harder, and more expensive to get. “The price of P on the New Zealand street appears to be holding steady at an all-time high level of $723 a gram. This is up from $610 a gram in 2006,” says Mr Key. Police and customs have also cracked down on the seizure P, and one of its main ingredients, pseudoephedrine. For the year to September 30, 105 clan labs have been dismantled - 11 more than last year. Border seizures of pseudoephedrine are also rivalling last year’s record of 1.2 tonnes, with officials confiscating 821kg so far. Read More. |
