| Several Injured In Fight At SC Correctional Facility |

BISHOPVILLE - Three corrections officers and four inmates were taken to area hospitals for injuries after a fight broke out at the Lee Correctional Institution on Monday morning, according to a corrections department official. At least one officer and one inmate suffered stab wounds said Josh Gelinas, spokesman for the South Carolina Department of Corrections. Gelinas said the three correction officers and four inmates all suffered non life-threatening injuries. Gelinas said Monday afternoon that the three officers were treated and released from the hospital. Gelinas added that the inmates' injuries were inflicted by other inmates and not by the correction officers who broke up the fight. Gelinas explained the incident occurred when a fight broke out at the Chesterfield Dormitory, and the three correctionx officers were injured while working to control the inmates. Read More. |
