Police Now Inform Detainees Of Cameras

Police have reason to keep those under arrest under surveillance at all times, even on the toilet.

Cherry Hill has settled its legal case with a woman who sued the township after she was unknowingly filmed by surveillance cameras while using the toilet in a holding cell at the Cherry Hill Police Department. She was being held in March 2009 at the department waiting to be booked for a drunken driving charge.

As part of the settlement, signs will now be posted outside cells in the Cherry Hill Police Department building that warns detainees that the toilets are monitored by a surveillance camera.

This is reasonable and the way it should be.
