| Poaching A Serious Offense For Montana Man |

HAMILTON - A Darby man who poached a moose and two deer left Ravalli County District Judge Jeffrey Langton's courtroom in handcuffs following a sentencing hearing Wednesday. Langton told Chad Moen, 37, that he was "damned lucky" that he wasn't going to prison after an exchange between the two at the end of the hearing. "I take a particularly dim view of these types of offenses," Langton said. Moen and another man were charged with poaching a cow moose and its calf in 2008 and shooting deer from the porch of their Darby apartment that were lured in close with bait. Read More. |
