CONCORD – Spader, who turned 19 on the day he was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, arrived at the state maximum security prison about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. He is in a special housing unit with about 100 cells dedicated to the worst of the worst. "He's going to be there for an extended period of time," said Jeffrey Lyons, spokesman for the state Department of Corrections. "It will be at least a year or two." Spader was convicted Tuesday of stabbing Kimberly L. Cates to death and maiming her daughter, Jaimie, in their Mont Vernon home on Oct. 4, 2009.
