HAMILTON, Mont. (AP) — A 42-year-old Hamilton man who crashed into a parked Montana Highway Patrol car, injuring the trooper, has been sentenced to five years with the state Department of Corrections. Geoffrey Klare appeared in District Court on Wednesday for the Jan. 30 crash near Darby that left Trooper Tamra Winchell with persistent neck, back and jaw problems, as well as a constant ringing in her ears. Authorities say Klare was drinking at a bar before he crashed into the car, which was parked on the side of the highway. He left the scene and was arrested about five hours later. District Judge Jeffrey Langton sentenced Klare to 20 years with Corrections on charges of negligent vehicular assault and failure to remain at the scene of an accident involving an injury. All but five years were suspended. Read More. |
