A pair of jail trusties assigned to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office motor pool in Metairie were booked on drug charges after they were caught taking a bag of marijuana that had been left there for one of them, according to arrest reports. An unidentified person had tossed a small brown paper bag over the fence at the east bank motor pool yard at 3300 Metairie Road. Sgt. Gary Cade saw Donnell Bridges, 18, of Marrero pick up the bag last Monday and start walking back to the work area, the reports said. When Cade called out to question Bridges, Bridges handed the bag to Kenneth Larousse, 46, of Gretna, who dropped it near a garbage bin, the reports said. The paper bag contained two plastic bags of marijuana, police said. Larousse was booked with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and having contraband in the correctional center. Bridges was booked with distribution of marijuana and having contraband in the correctional center. Larousse has served five months of a one-year sentence for contempt of court. Bridges has served six weeks of a six-month sentence for marijuana possession. Bridges has no previous convictions in 24th District Court for Jefferson Parish. Larousse pleaded guilty in 24th District Court in 1998 to possession with intent to distribute marijuana, court records said. |
