MANCHESTER, N.H. -- From check-ins at a local homeless shelter to a downtown rooming house, parole and probation officers out of the Manchester office are responsible for regular monitoring of a growing number of parolees. Each officer already handles 140-170 cases. Those numbers are increasing rapidly due to New Hampshire's new, controversial early release law known as SB500. Officers said the additions are taxing an already overloaded system. On a recent Thursday night, News 9 accompanied officers Gerard Legasse and Scott Christensen as they conducted their regular parolee check ins. The first stop was a meeting with Joshua Medbery.
