State prison officials said today they will appeal a judge’s order to move Linden man and once-convicted killer Loren Herzog from Lassen County. Lassen County Superior Court Judge F. Donald Sokol ruled earlier this month that the California Department of Corrections erred by placing the 44-year-old Herzog in Susanville, a rural north-state community. Upon his release about two months ago, prison officials placed him in a fifth-wheel mobile home next to the High Desert State Prison near Susanville City officials challenged the placement.
