| Suit Over Police Chase Deaths Settled |

The families of two young men killed in a 2006 crash with a car thief fleeing police have settled their wrongful-death lawsuits against the city of Yakima. More lawsuits stemming from a police chase in June that killed two more innocent people are expected. Guillermo "Bobby" Aguilar and Edgar Trevino-Mendoza, both 19, were killed Oct. 22, 2006, when their car was broadsided by a speeding driver at the intersection of Nob Hill Boulevard and 48th Avenue. A third occupant, Juan Hernandez Jr., was seriously injured but survived. The Aguilar estate settled with the city for $150,000, officials said, while Trevino-Mendoza's family accepted a settlement of $280,000. Read More. |
