| Another Prison Closing Means More Jobs Gone |

Another hundred jobs will leave Baldwin County at the end of the month, as the state Department of Corrections plans to close another prison. On December 1, Men's State Prison will be the fifth state corrections facility in the area to close in two years. The Dept. of Corrections says the building is old and outdated, requires too many people to staff and lacks modern safety features. The state says closing the 650-bed prison will save about $10.3 million a year. Read More. |
