| Church Robber Is Another Felony For Parolee |

A 52-year-old Jackson man accused of donning a vestment and stealing a church collection plate was arraigned Tuesday on a felony charge. Alan Fiddler, a parolee, is charged with larceny from a building. He is in jail on a $50,000 bond. He was arrested at his residence shortly after the Rev. Bob Pienta said a man entered St. John Catholic Church, 711 N. Francis St., on Saturday during Holy Communion. He garbed himself in a chasuble — the outermost layer of the vestments — and left the church with the plate, containing about $3,600, Pienta said Monday. During the service, Pienta saw Fiddler sitting in the cry room on the right side of the altar. He said he thinks Fiddler slipped into the sacristy, which holds the vestments, during the greeting of peace, when the congregation was shaking hands. Read More. |
