A jury has found Salvadoran immigrant Ingmar Guandique guilty of murdering Washington intern Chandra Levy back in 2001, when her disappearance from the U.S. capital became a national sensation. Guandique was found guilty of first-degree murder for attacking Levy while she exercised in Washington's Rock Creek Park in May 2001. The D.C. Superior Court jury deliberated over parts of four days before returning with a verdict shortly before noon Monday. They could have opted for a verdict of second-degree murder, but instead chose the more serious count. Guandique faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. Levy's disappearance made headlines when it emerged she had had romantic links with Gary Condit, then a Democratic congressman from California.
