Hands and feet shackled, 32-year-old Herman Senior had trouble reaching out to his 7-year-old son when allowed visits with the boy. He was imprisoned at a maximum-security Department of Corrections facility. Herman Senior said visitation periods with his son were limited, and at that time, more than 10 years ago, he was preoccupied dealing with the crime for which he was sentenced. "I didn't want to deal with anything. It was more of the regrets, and facing realities," said Herman Senior, who finished his sentence in 2008.
