WARE, IL (KFVS) - The search is over for two Union County men who allegedly lead police on a car and foot chase.

Union County deputies say the chase started when a Cobden Police officer initiated a traffic stop Friday at 11:15 p.m. and the driver, 28-year-old Patrick McLane of Ware, apparently refused to pull over.

The Cobden officer pursued McLane's vehicle from Cobden to a farm field near the intersection of State Forest Road and Clear Creek Levee Road near Ware.

McLane's vehicle got stuck in the mud and he and another man, 32-year-old Rusty Smith of Anna, got out of the vehicle and ran away on foot.

That started a massive ground search of the area Ware-Wolf Lake area. Illinois State Police, Anna Police, Cobden Police, Union County deputies and Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police helped with search.
