Ruby Ziegler has been selected as the new Deputy Warden at the Wyoming Medium Correctional Institution (WMCI) in Torrington, according to Warden Michael J. Murphy. Ziegler will begin the position December 13, 2010. She succeeds Michael Pacheco, who was promoted to Warden of the Wyoming Honor Farm located at Riverton Wyoming last September, 2010. WMCI is a medium security men's facility. It is specifically designed to serve as the primary intake and assessment center for male inmates not sentenced to death. It will serve as a primary education and treatment center for inmates identified as requiring high levels of protective custody, medical, mental health, dental, substance abuse, life skills, cognitive/behavioral, and/or sex offender treatment services. Ruby Ziegler began her career in corrections in February of 1993 with the State of Iowa as a correctional officer. She held the positions of Lieutenant, Captain, Unit Manager, and Security Director and completed an internship as a Probation/Parole Officer in Burlington, IA. She worked as the Program Manager in a substance abuse unit for adolescents in Fort Dodge, IA as well as in the Civil Commitment Unit for Sex Offenders in Cherokee, IA. Additionally she taught classes as a college professor in Sociology, Psychology, and Criminal Justice for Des Moines Area Community College and Buena Vista University. Ms. Ziegler moved to Wyoming and began her career with the Wyoming Department of Corrections in January of 2006 as the Housing and Classification Manager. In her life long pursuit of knowledge her education includes B.A. & M.S. degrees in Law Enforcement Justice Administration with minor studies in Agency Counseling Education, Sociology, and Computer Applications. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Services with an emphasis on Leadership. She obtained Certified Correctional Executive status in 2009 from the American Correctional Association (ACA). She is a former president of the Wyoming Criminal Justice Association. Ms. Ziegler is a wife, mother of four, and grandmother of seven who enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, rock climbing, and physical fitness. Ms. Ziegler looks forward to serving the community and the institution. |
