| TN Executions Put On Hold |

Just days after saying the execution of Stephen Michael West could go forward, the Tennessee Supreme Court changed its mind, saying there are unanswered questions about the way the state performs lethal injections. In addition to West’s stay of execution, the last-minute decision puts the scheduled Jan. 11 execution of Edmund Zagorski on hold as well. Zagorski, 56, was convicted of killing two men, one of them a Dickson County resident, in a drug deal in 1983. Jimmy Porter, of Dickson County, and Humphreys County resident John Dotson were shot, stabbed and robbed in Robertson County. Porter was 32 years old at the time of his murder and operated Dickson’s Eastside Tavern. Dotson was 36. The execution was scheduled to take place at Riverbend Maximum Security Institution in Nashville. Two other executions were put on hold after the court’s decision on Monday. Read More. |
