An escaped prisoner serving a sentence for a Jersey City manslaughter is back behind bars after surrendering to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office yesterday, officials said. Angelo J. Miranda, 29, of Thorne Street at Columbia Avenue, had been transferred from a prison facility to a Newark halfway house on Nov. 17 and he went missing on Nov. 25, corrections officials said. On July 13, 2007, Miranda pleaded guilty to the reckless manslaughter of Jerald Schwartz, 31, of Ho-Ho-Kus, and was sentenced to five years in prison on Nov. 30, 2007, Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio said. On Friday, officers of the Department of Corrections Special Investigation Unit-Fugitive Unit were able to contact Miranda by phone and he agreed to turn himself in, state Department of Corrections spokeswoman Deirdre Fedkenheuer said yesterday.
