In the week after the brutal killing of publicist Kate Horan inside her Russian Hill apartment, the parents of the alleged perpetrator said they contacted every authority possible to report that their son was missing. The mother of Scott Holland twice tried to call his parole officer to report that he was missing after the Oct. 29 killing. Holland had yet to be named a suspect in the case, but his mother knew he did not show up to his construction job on the Monday after the killing. Debbie Holland said she called his parole officer Nov. 3 only to find that the voice mail was full.
