| Oldest New Yorker In Jail Dies At 101 |

Theodore Sypnier, a Town of Tonawanda man who was convicted in 2000 of sexually molesting two girls, died in a Hudson Valley area prison on Tuesday at the age of 101. He was the oldest living inmate in the New York state penal system at the time of his death. Sypnier was living on Cobb Street in the Sheridan Parkside neighborhood when he was arrested on Oct. 28, 1999. He previously lived in Buffalo and is believed to have molested several children over decades. He was first convicted of a sex crime in 1987 and was convicted at least one other time. Linda M. Foglia, spokeswoman for the Department of Correctional Services, said Sypnier died at 12:35 a.m. at a regional medical unit at Coxsackie Correctional Facility in Greene County. He had been transferred to Coxsackie on Dec. 1 from Groveland Correctional Facility in Livingston County for medical purposes, Foglia told the Tonawanda News. Read More. |
