Rev. Ruth named to tend to county prison inmates A Diocese of Scranton priest who has ministered to Hispanic inmates at the Lackawanna County Prison for the past year has taken on the duties previously performed by the Rev. William Pickard, who was barred from the jail in the summer. The Rev. John Ruth's prison ministry is in addition to his responsibilities as assistant pastor at St. John Neumann Parish in South Scranton and Hispanic ministry coordinator in Lackawanna County, diocesan spokesman William Genello said.
