| Potential Protests Lead To GA Lockdowns |

ATLANTA (AP) At least four Georgia prisons have been locked down to prevent an expected inmate protest over living conditions. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that inmates are demanding to be paid for their work, which includes cooking and serving meals and cleaning the prisons and other government buildings. State law does not allow for most state prisoners to be paid. Prison advocates say the inmates also want better educational opportunities, better health care and healthier food. Read More. |
