| Convicted Child Rapist Free During Appeal |

Leavenworth, Kan. — A Linwood man who received a life sentence last week has been released from jail as he appeals his conviction in a child molestation case, a Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office spokesman confirmed. Chris King, 34, was released Friday on an appeal bond. Undersheriff Ron Cranor believes the bond had been set at $400,000. The Sheriff’s Office operates the Leavenworth County Jail where King was taken after being sentenced Wednesday to life in prison with a possibility of parole after 25 years. If King’s appeal is unsuccessful, he eventually would serve his sentence with the Kansas Department of Corrections. King was sentenced last week for two counts of rape, one count aggravated indecent liberties with a child and one count of aggravated criminal sodomy.
