CLIFTON PARK — When prisoners in New York state want to research their cases in the future, they will not be found with their noses in books, but rather sitting in front of computer screens. This is thanks to Saratoga County-based company nfrastructure, which is working with the Department of Corrections Services to consolidate the shelves of bulky law books in the prisons’ law libraries into a few hard drives. Dan Pickett, chairman and CEO of nfrastructure, said the project is part of DOCS’ plan to manage inmates more cost effectively. The average cost of replacing a law library with a digital system is about $25,000 to $30,000 per prison for the 68 prisons in the state.
