Inmates at the minimum-security prison in Los Lunas, N.M. say the food has been terrible lately. Only 44 of the 330 inmates at the prison showed up for lunch July 7 to protest the food, according to Corrections Department spokeswoman Tia Bland. She says corrections officials discussed the situation with the Aramark Corporation, which has the contract for prison food service. She says the situation has been resolved, and the company agreed to put more beef into the menu. Bland says that the next day, 238 of the 330 prisoners showed up for a spaghetti-and-meatballs lunch at the Los Lunas prison. |
