BAY MINETTE, Alabama — If Stephen Nodine were to be convicted of felony murder he could face life in prison, though his lack of an extensive criminal history could decrease that sentence, officials said. Testimony ended Friday in the case that began Dec. 6. Jurors will consider two different murder theories. The first is intentional murder, that Nodine shot his longtime mistress, Angel Downs, with the intent to kill her on May 9. The second theory, felony murder, alleges that Downs’ death resulted from another felony — in this case, Nodine’s alleged stalking.
