| Woman Arrested For Running Drug House |

PEKIN, Ill. — A Mason City woman pleaded guilty to selling cocaine from her house within a block and a half of a school Thursday in Mason County Criminal Court, nearly two months after a civil court had already found her guilty of the same charge and given her house to the Illinois State Police to auction. According to court records, ownership of the house at 518 W. Pine St. in Mason City, belonging to 38-year-old Michelle Bolen, was granted to the ISP Oct. 28, weeks before Bolen had been proven guilty in a criminal court, where she received a nine-year sentence in the Illinois Department of Corrections as part of a negotiated plea agreement. Mason County State’s Attorney Kristen Miller said forfeiture laws allow states to confiscate property used by people to commit serious crimes including dealing drugs. She said as long as she has been in office this was the first case of a house being forfeited, but added she has brought many proceedings against people to seize their vehicles — including someone’s camper — if they were used to assist those people in dealing drugs.
