ALLENDALE TOWNSHIP — Two Michigan Department of Corrections parolees were arrested and lodged Monday in the Ottawa County Jail after a police pursuit off Lake Michigan Drive that lasted almost two hours.

The men were charged with first-degree home invasion and safe breaking as habitual offenders in connection with a Dec. 19 Grand Haven Township break-in at a residence in the 15000 block of Groesbeck Street.

Deputies allege the pair, a 27-year-old Grand Haven man and a 31-year-old Robinson Township man, broke into the home and fled with several valuables from a safe. The residents were not home at the time.

Police were able to identify the suspects early on, and an off-duty sheriff’s deputy identified a suspect vehicle traveling Monday on Lake Michigan Drive.
