A former Florida Department of Corrections officer remains behind bars after he was arrested by Wakulla County deputies on child molestation charges earlier this month. Clyde William Hamilton, the 55-year-old former DOC lieutenant, was arrested Dec. 13 and charged with raping a 15-year-old girl and indecently exposing himself to another young girl, according to a report filed by the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office. He is being held in the Wakulla County Jail without bail on two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior and a sexual battery charge. Deputies received a call Aug. 17 from a man claiming that his daughters had been sexually abused by Hamilton for the past five to six years, the report said. Hamilton told responding investigators that the girls were lying. DOC records show that three days after the abuse was reported, Hamilton resigned from Franklin Correctional Institution due to "unforeseen circumstances."
