| Parole Hearing Delayed For Serial Killer |

CORCORAN – Citing his severe dementia and an inability to submit a parole plan, a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation parole board commissioner granted twice-convicted serial killer and former Yuba City resident Juan Corona a waiver today for what was to be his fifth parole hearing. Parole Board Commissioner Susan Melanson accepted the request from Corona's attorney Y. John Ibrahim of Orange County that Corona, who is 76, be allowed one year to reschedule the hearing. Corona, convicted in 1973 of brutally killing 25 transient farm workers and burying their machete-hacked bodies in orchards north of Yuba City, has been at Corcoran State Prison for the past 26 years. His initial conviction was overturned in 1978. A new trial in 1982 also resulted in a guilty verdict. Read More. |
