Three prison inmates, an Arizona Department of Corrections officer and one firefighter were injured when a car hit them on a roadside brush-thinning crew in Oracle. The seven-inmate crew was working to clear brush well onto the shoulder of the road when a vehicle traveling about 35 hit the first two prisoners last evening. The Department of Corrections says two inmates were airlifted to University Medical Center in critical condition. The corrections officer, another inmate and a firefighter were taken by ambulance to Tucson hospitals. The prisoners were from the Arizona State Prison Complex-Tucson. |
