A man with prior sexual offense convictions was charged today with posing as a policeman and raping a woman near in Kansas City, Kan. Prosecutors say the man approached a woman in the Walmart parking lot on Parallel Parkway on Monday afternoon and told her she was under arrest for shoplifting. The woman got in his car and he drove her to the nearby parking lot at Best Buy. He later released the woman. The Wyandotte County District Attorney’s office charged Wesley Earl Watson, 55, with rape, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated intimidation of a victim, impersonation of a law enforcement officer and aggravated sexual battery.
