Man Accused Of 21 Year Killing Spree In Court

MILWAUKEE — A long-running case against a Milwaukee man accused of killing seven women over a 21-year period may be nearing its end.

Walter E. Ellis, 50, will be in court this morning for an appearance that was scheduled as a motion hearing, but prosecutors hinted Wednesday that the appearance could have a more significant outcome.

It is anticipated that the matter may be resolved during this court appearance," Assistant Dist. Atty. Kent Lovern said in a brief statement. He did not immediately return a phone message asking whether a plea deal had been reached.

Ellis has pleaded not guilty to first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree murder in the deaths of the women, who were killed between 1986 and 2007.
