PEORIA — A man wanted for violating his parole and a handful of other offenses led police on a high-speed chase for nearly 40 miles and 45 minutes. Shandon Brown, 28, was arrested on East County Road 24 just west of Farmington in Fulton County about 7 p.m. after running from authorities for some of 40 miles at speeds up to 100 mph. It was unclear Sunday what exactly started the chase, though it is believed Brown had cut off an Illinois Department of Corrections ankle bracelet that was monitoring him. About 5 p.m., Peoria police were unsuccessful in attempting to stop Brown while he was driving a car reported stolen. Officers followed at a distance as he drove north into Peoria Heights, where they lost him. Read More. |
