CLINTON — It is, Ray Holloway says, "a park director's nightmare." It happened Christmas Day, when one of the outbuildings at Clinton's beloved Kids Towne Playground was reduced to melted plastic and a charred wooden frame. Fire and police officials say the small wooden building at the front of the park on Old Vicksburg Road caught fire about 3:30 p.m. and burned quickly. Firefighters took about 30 minutes to extinguish the flames. The building, surrounded by decorative latticed wood walls, houses the park's two portable toilets. Its destruction likely was caused by a short in an extension cord used to supply power to the park's picturesque Christmas lights and inflatables displays. Read More. |
