A Kennewick woman accused of leaving her friend injured in the middle of the road after hitting her with an SUV in October has been charged with hit-and-run.

Charges were filed Wednesday in Benton County Superior Court against Bobi Jennings, 29.

Police and prosecutors allege Jennings was on her way to pick up her friend, Aimee Dilger, 33, of Kennewick, when she struck her and fled the scene.

Shortly after the Oct. 24 incident, Jennings' defense attorney, Scott Johnson, said his client wasn't the driver of the SUV that hit Dilger and stood by that claim Wednesday.

"We're obviously disappointed that the decision to charge her was made," Johnson said. "Last week we provided the Kennewick Police Department and prosecutors with some records that corroborated that my client didn't commit this crime."

Johnson said Jennings maintains her innocence and "we're just going to have to resolve it in trial."
