BRANDON — New tracking devices will allow Rankin County authorities to keep better tabs on youth offenders. The ankle bracelets also have a voice component, allowing probation officers and the parolee to talk. "It sounded like the voice of God," Youth Court Judge Tom Broome said of the first time he saw and heard a bracelet in use. The first bracelet was put on a youth Dec. 23, and more will be given out in 2011 as part of a pilot program. Rankin County is joining a handful of Mississippi counties that offer this program in their youth courts. The program is being eyed by other state agencies like the state Department of Corrections.
