Dangerous inmates were moved into an open prison to ease overcrowding before causing £3million damage in a drunken rampage. Forty prisoners set fire to buildings after bingeing on a cocktail of champagne, brandy, whisky and vodka in a riot ‘unprecedented’ at a minimum-security jail. Prisons Minister Crispin Blunt yesterday announced two separate inquiries into the riot at Ford open prison. Police will investigate if any criminal charges can be brought against the culprits.
