| Man Arrested, Claims Responsibility For Cockfighting Ring |

One man was arrested and Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators anticipate several more arrests after deputies discovered a cockfighting ring in the backyard of a Bayou L’Ourse home Saturday, according to a department news release. An undercover agent with the department investigated a tip that cockfighting was taking place in the woods near Faith Street and found a large group of people participating in the illegal activity, the release said. Deputies dispatched to the scene at 118 Faith St. found blood on the ground and a 55-gallon drum containing five dead roosters, the news release said.
