In the latest announcement about his emerging administration, Gov. Rick Snyder has named campaign manager Jeff Barnes to be deputy chief of staff and a group executive under Snyder’s new management model for state government. Barnes will be public safety group executive and will coordinate the Michigan Department of Corrections, Michigan Department of State Police and Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs. A 10-year U.S. Army veteran who served in Iraq, the Balkans and Korea, Barnes’ background includes being a troop commander and managing platoons, sections, equipment and logistical support. After his military service, Barnes earned a master of public-policy degree from the University of Michigan Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy and during that time was also an intern at the White House with the USA Freedom Corps program under President George W. Bush. Read More. |
